The students are eager to begin planting the garden layout, researching optimal conditions for the plants and strategically planting seeds to maximize space and resources. This hands-on experience is helping them learn about C germination plant care and a practical setting. As the project progresses, the students will monitor plant growth and maintain the garden to ensure each plant thrives this approach, not only enhances their understanding of gardening, but also instills a sense of responsibility and teamwork as they work together to nurture their garden. They were able to relate with children they have never met. We have started \"First Chapter Friday\" where I choose one of our new books and read just the first chapter aloud to the students. This has built a lot of excitement and anticipation to know more about the story. Students have been able to check these books out of the library to read during our daily independent reading time and have been taking them home to share the good stories with their families. \r\n\r\nAs you may know, students have state testing in fourth grade that tests their reading fluency and comprehension. It is so important to me, though, that students see reading as a fun way to spend their time, not just something they must do to get graded on. These new books are a great way to incorporate more \"just for fun\" reading. They have spurred conversations about different themes, new vocabulary, and various time periods and places around the world that are included in the stories. \r\n\r\nHere are some thoughts from my students:\r\n\"The books will help us in many ways. These new books can spark creativity in the most awesome ways. They help us think and imagine about anything. Some of these books teach us lessons on how to behave or how to treat people. I love our new books!\" - H.K.\r\n\r\n\"These new books might turn into somebody's new favorite! They help us learn about new topics and make us smarter. This is the best gift we could ever get.
