The students were so excited when they first saw the new resources, and their faces lit up as they dove right in. These materials have made our centers not only more engaging, but also more purposeful. In one group, students are using the letter rods to build CVC words like \"cot\" and \"pot,\" while another group works with the same rods to practice long vowels and CVCe words. They love the hands-on nature of the activity, and it has been amazing to see them taking ownership of their learning in such a fun way.\r\n\r\nAcross the room, other groups are busy with their own exciting tasks. Students are using magnetic boards to practice encoding and decoding words, which helps them connect sounds to letters more fluently. At another table, the stamping center has become a favorite, students carefully stamp out their words and are motivated to improve their penmanship while doing so. Every corner of the classroom is buzzing with energy, focus, and creativity.\r\n\r\nThe best part is how engaged the students are. They are not just practicing skills; they are actively learning, experimenting, and having fun. These centers are giving them opportunities to apply what we've learned in whole-group lessons in a hands-on way, and it shows in their progress. Our next steps will be to continue rotating groups through these centers, building independence and strengthening foundational reading and writing skills each week. Starting a new classroom from scratch can be overwhelming, and your generosity helped lift such a big weight off my shoulders. Because of you, my students now have the essential tools they need to learn, grow, and feel comfortable in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe easel you helped provide has already become a central part of our learning space. We use it every day during circle time to explore our reading, math, and writing lessons together. The rug has become our cozy gathering spot — a place where we build community, share ideas, and start and end our day as a class.\r\n\r\nThe math materials have been especially helpful as we introduce foundational concepts like counting, place value, and number sense. These hands-on tools are allowing my students to explore math in a fun and engaging way — and I can already see their confidence growing.\r\n\r\nWhen the items arrived, the students' faces lit up with excitement. One student said, \"It looks like a real classroom now!\" That simple, joyful comment reminded me just how much your support matters.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we've been able to create a warm, welcoming, and well-equipped learning environment. Because of you, each student in our class now has their very own copy of Charlotte's Web — and it has truly transformed the way we experience reading together.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is now more interactive, joyful, and meaningful. Instead of reading from a shared text or listening to me read aloud, every student can follow along in their own book. This simple shift has deepened comprehension, sparked thoughtful discussion, and boosted confidence in even our most reluctant readers.\r\n\r\nWith Charlotte's Web, we've explored so many rich lessons — from character development and theme analysis to vocabulary, figurative language, and making personal connections. Students are learning how to annotate text, make predictions, and support their ideas with evidence — skills that are essential not only for reading but for all academic areas.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came when a student who usually avoids reading raised their hand and said, \"I think Charlotte is the smartest character I've ever read about.\" Another student quietly asked if they could take their book home to read more on their own — something they had never done before.\r\n\r\nThis story has touched hearts, opened minds, and built classroom community in a way that's hard to put into words. Watching my students laugh, gasp, and even tear up as we follow Wilbur and Charlotte's journey has been incredibly moving — and it's all thanks to your kindness.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just give us books — it gave us shared experiences, deep learning, and a stronger love for reading.","fullyFundedDate":1742140756633,"projectUrl":"project/charlottes-web/9171012/","projectTitle":"Charlotte's Web","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Del Chiaro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9968692_orig.jpg?crop=1086,1086,x0,y47&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741999392456","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9968692"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28001","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":527,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":26,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.3,"schoolId":28001,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lone Tree Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lone Tree Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/antioch-unified-school-district/lone-tree-elementary-school/28001"}
