Students who have difficulty sitting still for an entire class period, or who simply work better while standing, now have a space where they can comfortably continue working without distracting themselves or others. In an art classroom, students are constantly drawing, coloring, cutting, designing, and creating, so having a workspace that meets their individual needs helps them stay focused and engaged.\r\n\r\nMy students were very excited when they first saw the stand-up desks! They immediately wanted to know who could use them and were eager to try them out. We discussed that these desks are another tool in our classroom and are available when a student feels they would be more successful standing rather than sitting. I have already enjoyed seeing students recognize what they need to be successful and make responsible choices about their learning environment.\r\n\r\nAs we begin our art lessons this school year, students will use these desks while exploring the elements of art, practicing creative thinking, drawing, coloring, and completing hands-on projects.
