One of the first books we shared together was The Very Clever Consonant Blends, which I read to them right before our first lesson on beginning consonant blends. Because the students were so engaged with the story, they were more confident and enthusiastic when practicing beginning consonant blends during our lessons. The book helped turn what could have been a simple phonics lesson into a memorable learning experience.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I plan to incorporate even more stories into our lessons to help strengthen students' literacy skills through engaging, meaningful contexts. These tools allow students to practice forming letters over and over again in a low-pressure way. Being able to trace, erase, and try again helps build their confidence and improves their handwriting and letter recognition. Many of my young learners are especially proud when they see how much their writing improves with practice.\r\n\r\nOur literacy instruction has been greatly enhanced with the Eyewords Multi-sensory Sight Word & Phonics Flash Cards, and the Alphabet Wall Chart. These resources support students as they build foundational reading skills and strengthen their phonics knowledge. The multi-sensory approach helps students connect sounds, words, colors, and shapes, making it easier for them to remember what they learn. I have seen students become more confident readers as they recognize high-frequency words more quickly and apply phonics skills during reading activities.\r\n\r\nThe Addition and Subtraction Flip & Solve Boards have also made math practice more engaging and hands-on. Students enjoy using these boards to check their thinking and practice solving problems independently. These tools allow them to build fluency with basic math facts while feeling successful and motivated to keep learning.\r\n\r\nThe various cardstock papers, magnets, Velcro dots, craft punches, markers, and colored pencils have helped me create interactive learning materials and centers that students can use every day. These supplies allow us to build durable learning games, hands-on activities, and visual supports that keep students engaged and excited about learning.\r\n\r\nFinally, the nutrition and granola bars have been a wonderful support for my students as well. Having a small snack available helps students stay focused and energized, especially during long learning blocks.
