Because of your kindness, our classroom now has new phonics books that are making a meaningful difference in our students' learning every day.\r\n\r\nWhen the books first arrived, my students were so excited. They immediately began flipping through the pages, pointing out familiar letter sounds and patterns we have been practicing. Some students proudly said, \"I can read this!\" as they recognized words they could decode. Their smiles and enthusiasm filled the room.\r\n\r\nWe are using the books every day in our small reading groups. During these targeted lessons, students practice specific phonics skills we are currently learning, such as vowel teams and blends. In one recent lesson, students worked together to find words with the focus pattern in their books and then took turns reading aloud to build fluency and confidence. I have already seen growth in their decoding skills and increased confidence when reading independently.\r\n\r\nThese resources are helping students strengthen foundational reading skills, improve fluency, and develop a love of reading. Having books at their level allows them to experience success, which motivates them to keep trying.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include continuing to use the books in small groups to support differentiated instruction and connecting our phonics skills to writing activities. Students will apply what they learn in reading to their own writing, helping them become stronger, more confident readers and writers.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students tools that they will use all year long. Thank you for giving them the opportunity to grow, succeed, and enjoy reading.","fullyFundedDate":1764799471149,"projectUrl":"project/first-grade-readers-on-the-rise/9709378/","projectTitle":"First Grade Readers on the Rise!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10063526_orig.png?crop=486,486,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750847401220","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10063526"},{"teacherId":10063526,"projectId":9432247,"letterContent":"Because of You, My Little Learners Are Shining Brighter Every Day! \r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our first-grade classroom has been transformed into a brighter, more joyful, and more organized place to learn!\r\n\r\nMy 17 little learners—11 of whom are ESOL students—come to school each day excited to explore, create, and grow.
