My students' love unboxing things and their eyes lit up with curiosity as we unpacked each item together. \r\n\r\nWe're using these new resources every day to bridge the worlds of English and Spanish and to make language learning feel less intimidating and more engaging. One of our recent projects involved students creating short bilingual stories using visual aids and interactive materials from your donation. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by grammar or vocabulary lists, they explored language through storytelling and play. I watched students who had previously been hesitant light up with confidence as they taught each other new phrases, shared their cultures, and practiced pronunciation.\r\n\r\nThe bean bags are especially helpful during our reading times and the students instantly gravitate towards them. These resources have given them the freedom to learn in a way that feels comfortable and natural. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll continue using these tools to build toward language proficiency both inside and outside the classroom. Our goal is to foster not only strong language skills but also a deep appreciation for the cultures behind the words. We're working on expanding our community projects where students can use their language skills to interact with others through writing letters, performing skits, or even leading mini-lessons.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, learning a new language is no longer something to be afraid of. You didn't just donate materials; you gave my students confidence, joy, and a bridge between new worlds.","fullyFundedDate":1746785365165,"projectUrl":"project/bridging-worlds-empowering-language-lea/9095138/","projectTitle":"Bridging Worlds: Empowering Language Learners With Essential Classroom Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Botello","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9710092_orig.jpg?crop=1804,1804,x645,y554&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738725788409","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9710092"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13834","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":901,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":53,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":34.6,"schoolId":13834,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Livonia High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Livonia High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/louisiana/pointe-coupee-parish-school-district/livonia-high-school/13834"}
