They have investigated which objects are magnetic, tested predictions, sorted materials, and worked together to solve simple engineering challenges. One memorable moment was when students used magnets to design and build a \"magnet rescue\" activity, figuring out how to move paper clips through a maze without touching them. The excitement on their faces as they tested different ideas and celebrated their successes showed just how powerful hands-on STEM learning can be for young children.\r\n\r\nMy students were immediately fascinated by the magnets and eager to begin exploring. Their curiosity took over as they experimented with different objects around the classroom, asking questions and making discoveries on their own. The simple act of seeing magnets attract and repel sparked countless conversations, predictions, and observations. For many students, it was their first experience with magnetism, and they were amazed by what they could do.\r\n\r\nAs we continue to use the magnet center, students will build on their STEM skills by engaging in more complex investigations and collaborative challenges. They will continue practicing observation, problem-solving, prediction, and critical thinking while exploring how magnets interact with different materials. We will also connect our learning to engineering activities, encouraging students to design, test, and improve their ideas. These experiences help lay a strong foundation for future science learning while fostering creativity, curiosity, and confidence in our young learners. The dividers were a huge help in keeping students focused and engaged and minimizing distractions. \r\n\r\nI have students in three grade levels, so they are often working on different things. Being able to pull the dividers over to separate groups was amazing. \r\n\r\nMost of my student struggle with focus. Being able to block out visual distractions helped them remained focused on the task at hand. \r\n\r\nOur custodians love the dividers also because they are lightweight and can easily be moved out of the way for cleaning!
