This has already become such a useful and flexible learning tool in our classroom.\r\n\r\nA very special thank you to PNC Grow Up Great for donating this wonderful unit to our class. Your generosity is helping us increase our students' love for reading while making learning fun, engaging, and hands-on.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite features is how tall and vertical the stand is. It allows books and learning materials to be displayed where all of my Pre-K students can easily see them. I also love that it can be rolled from one learning center to another and then brought back to our whole-group area whenever we need it.\r\n\r\nI apologize that I am unable to share photographs of my students using the stand at this time. Because I recently moved schools, I do not yet have all of the necessary photo-release permissions signed. Protecting my students' privacy is very important to me.\r\n\r\nEven without photographs, I can tell you how much my students love using this resource! They especially enjoy pretending to be the teacher, standing beside the board, and \"reading\" our classroom books to their friends. These moments help build confidence, language development, early literacy skills, and most importantly, a love for reading.\r\n\r\nWe also use the magnetic board for so much more than books. Students practice matching shapes, letters, numbers, pictures, and other concepts connected to math, science, reading, and social studies. Sometimes I attach a pocket chart to the board so we can sort, match, sequence, discuss, and review concepts together.\r\n\r\nThe stand has also become a wonderful informal assessment tool. I can invite students to interact with materials on the board and quickly see who understands a concept, who is ready for something more challenging, and who may need additional practice.\r\n\r\nThank you again to PNC Grow Up Great for investing in our classroom and helping us create meaningful, exciting learning experiences for our youngest learners. The center gives children opportunities to choose books independently, sit comfortably with a friend, explore illustrations, retell familiar stories, and practice important early literacy behaviors such as holding a book correctly, turning pages, and noticing the front and back covers.\r\n\r\nThe addition of the Toniebox and Tonie characters has made the center even more engaging. Students can independently listen to stories and songs while following along with books or exploring stories in a screen-free way. Repeated listening supports vocabulary development, listening comprehension, attention, memory, sequencing, and story retelling. It also gives children who are not yet reading conventionally an important way to participate successfully in literacy experiences.\r\n\r\nWhat I especially see in this center is independence and choice. Students are not simply being told to look at a book—they are choosing to spend time with books. They are sitting together, sharing materials, listening, talking about stories, and learning from one another. These experiences strengthen communication, cooperation, turn-taking, and confidence while building the foundational literacy skills they will need as future readers.\r\n\r\nTonie's Library Center has transformed reading into an experience my students can explore on their own. It provides them with a comfortable place to slow down, listen, imagine, connect with characters, and discover that books can be both educational and enjoyable.
