I introduced the project at back to school night and it created a lot of enthusiasm for coming to art class. I can't tell you how many time I answered the question, are we doing dragon eyes today? \r\n\r\nOur dragon eye project allowed us to discuss color mixing while the students did the marker ink color mixing with the clay. This was not only a fun tactile experience but really taught them about color and value. \r\n\r\nCreating textures was so fun with model magic, it is a very forgiving and easy to use clay. All age groups had great success creating some amazing dragon eyes with various texture tools. The marble eyes were so stunning that we all had a hard time choosing our favorite. Our students are already diving into these resources with excitement, and they are learning important skills like making predictions, identifying themes, and drawing connections between texts and their own lives. These books are not only strengthening reading comprehension, but also encouraging meaningful discussions about character choices, diverse perspectives, and the power of storytelling.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is a lively and interactive experience. Students often gather in small groups to share passages that stood out to them, or they jot down questions and insights in their reading journals. With these new books, I've noticed a renewed energy—students are leaning into read-aloud time, volunteering to take on character voices, and eagerly debating what might happen next in a story.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts has been seeing students who were once reluctant readers find books they truly enjoy. For example, one student who usually preferred only short passages has been completely absorbed in a new chapter book from our collection, proudly sharing his progress with classmates each day. Moments like these would not be possible without your generosity, and we are deeply grateful for the joy and learning your gift has brought into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1756159236631,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-classroom/9368083/","projectTitle":"First Year Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chamberlain","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10039791"},{"teacherId":4525598,"projectId":9159608,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations! The students love to work with clay but the intensity of it was becoming a burden. I am so grateful that you have funded our air dry clay projects for this year. The students will have the opportunity to create clay projects without the extra work to have them fired. They will paint them with metallic paint to give them a sort of glazed look. \r\n\r\nWorking with clay has been a student favorite since I began teaching a few years ago. We taped off our area with masking tape and painted different shades of green and blue to make our trees. Some students added Christmas tree decorations like lights and ornaments.
