The Science of Reading curriculum has made an enormous impact on my student's ability to access the materials. In my classroom I have different levels of reading skills. For those students who know their letter sounds are learning how to sound out CVC words in the Bob Books. They feel confident in their reading when they can sound out an unknown word by themselves. My students feel proud of themselves when they have successfully read an entire book. I also have students who are higher readers, they enjoy reading the Yak Pak books. The parents of my students have seen a noticeable difference in their student's reading and reading engagement. They have expressed their excitement and gratitude during their student's IEP meetings. \r\n I have introduced the Bob books and the workbooks that go along with them. Each week my students complete a Bob workbook along with reading the book. These workbooks provide several opportunities for my students to practice their tracing and copying of words. I also teach different word letter families each week with a slideshow lesson that includes videos of the targeted word families. My students are multimodal learners. They benefit from having music and videos integrated into their learning. The music and videos increase their engagement in the learning that translate to increasing their understanding of the word families in their reading. More of my students can isolate then change the initial sound of a CVC word to make a new word. This makes them feel proud of themselves when they learn a new word family. I also use the Decodable Book worksheets as homework assignments for students to continue to read with their parents at home.\r\n Reading in my classroom is individualized. My students have unique learning needs and accommodations that when met they can learn more. Each student requires 1:1 support to complete their reading assignments. I provide many learning opportunities for my students to practice their reading skills. They learn using online reading programs like Starfall and iReady during computer time. They also practice their reading skills during whole group instruction with the reading slideshows learning the kindergarten sight words and word families.","fullyFundedDate":1760751051737,"projectUrl":"project/students-with-disabilities-we-can-read/9594442/","projectTitle":"Students With Disabilities, We Can Read Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Amanda Godlove-McMaster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8493802_orig.png?crop=1206,1205,x0,y188&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756423920121","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8493802"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_37873","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":322,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.3,"schoolId":37873,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Clairemont Canyon Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Clairemont Canyon Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/lindbergh-schoolweitzer-elementary-school/37873"}
