Because of you, my classroom is becoming a space where students feel comfortable, supported, and set up for success in ways that meet their individual needs. Your contribution is making a meaningful and direct impact on their daily learning experiences.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest benefits of your donation is that my students now have the opportunity to choose seating options that best support them each day. For many of my students, having choice is powerful. It gives them ownership over their learning environment and allows them to recognize what their bodies and minds need in order to focus. Some days a student may need a traditional chair and desk setup, while other days they may benefit from sitting on the floor, using flexible seating, or spreading out materials in a different way. That simple ability to choose can significantly increase engagement, independence, and confidence.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we sometimes use these seating options as desks and workspaces while sitting on the floor. This flexibility may look different from a traditional classroom, but it serves an important purpose. Many of my students benefit from additional movement and varied positioning throughout the day. Being able to sit on the floor, stretch out, or shift positions helps provide the sensory input their bodies crave. When students' sensory needs are met, they are better able to regulate their emotions, maintain attention, and participate meaningfully in instruction.\r\n\r\nFor students who require extra sensory stimulation and support with processing, these options are not simply preferences—they are tools. Flexible seating allows for improved sensory processing, which directly impacts learning. When a child feels physically regulated and comfortable, their brain is more available for academic tasks. As a result, we see improved focus, longer work stamina, fewer disruptions, and a more positive classroom atmosphere overall.\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic benefits, your donation communicates something even deeper to my students: that people care about them. It shows them that members of their community believe in their potential and are willing to invest in their growth. That message builds confidence and helps foster a sense of belonging, which is essential for children to thrive.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my classroom is more than just a place to complete assignments—it is a space intentionally designed to support diverse learners in meaningful ways. Thank you for helping create an environment where students can move, choose, regulate, and succeed. Your support is making a difference every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1763597406153,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-focused-learning/9632720/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating, Focused Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mecom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6960860"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57132","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":420,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":14,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":57132,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln Memorial Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln Memorial Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/caney-valley-usd-436/lincoln-memorial-elementary-school/57132"}
