When my students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with genuine excitement; they couldn't wait to dive into the challenges. We have been using these resources during our weekly \"Community Circles\" and as a reward for collective hard work. It has been incredible to watch students who don't usually socialize sit down together, negotiate rules, and cheer each other on. These games have provided a structured, joyful way for them to build friendships and see our classroom as a supportive team environment.\r\n\r\nBeyond the fun, these games have become a primary tool for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). In the heat of a competitive round, my students are learning how to manage big emotions—practicing how to handle a loss with grace and how to be a humble winner. They are developing essential life skills like patience, empathy for their teammates, and clear communication. Looking ahead, our next step is to have students act as \"Game Ambassadors,\" where they will take turns teaching the rules of their favorite games to other classes, further boosting their leadership and public speaking confidence. These materials have given my students a safe space to grow emotionally and socially every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1767215971038,"projectUrl":"project/game-on-building-community-through-game/9678580/","projectTitle":"Game On: Building Community Through Games","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Paredes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9107876_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y517&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717807786127","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9107876"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84458","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":363,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":85,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"22.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":84458,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/pomona-unified-school-district/lincoln-elementary-school/84458"}
