Over the course of the year, I was able to give yarn supplies and hooks to over 200 students! That is most of my school! Just about every morning before school, I put small balls of yarn that were a requested color in a student's locker for them to use and create with. Students figured out how to make hair scrunchies, jellyfish, wristlets, bags, and a really cool tail. Other kids were celebrating making a chain and starting to crochet into it. All progress was good progress.\r\n\r\nAt the end of the year, I celebrated the growth and building of this valuable coping skill with giving students the choice of whole skeins of yarn or full crochet hook sets! The goal was to keep motivating them to create, explore, and try using different weights of yarn for projects.\r\n\r\nI am looking forward to next year, spending time developing this skill with more students, as well as encouraging my kids that are excelling to grow their leadership capacity by having them also teach someone!","fullyFundedDate":1762184359083,"projectUrl":"project/beginning-crochet-group/9855210/","projectTitle":"Beginning Crochet Group","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Aho","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9731821_orig.jpg?crop=1467,1467,x286,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756148959002","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9731821"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_76292","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":295,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":61,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":9,"gradesServed":"4 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":67.5,"schoolId":76292,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/st-cloud-independent-school-district-742/lincoln-elementary-school/76292"}
