Your generous contributions have completely transformed our classroom, providing us with brand new literacy and math manipulatives that are making a profound difference in our students' learning journey every single day. The impact of your support is truly immeasurable, creating an environment where curiosity thrives and complex concepts become accessible to every child.\r\n\r\nWhen these vibrant materials first arrived, the energy in the room was palpable. You should have seen their faces! There were gasps of pure delight and a chorus of enthusiastic \"oohs\" and \"aahs\" as we carefully unboxed everything. The students were buzzing with anticipation, eager to get their hands on the colorful counting bears, magnetic letter tiles, geometric shapes, and various other tangible learning tools. It honestly felt like a joyous holiday morning in our classroom, a moment of collective excitement that I know none of us will soon forget.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful ways we've been leveraging these fantastic new resources is through our \"Building Our Own Book\" project. Previously, students were confined to drawing and writing in notebooks. Now, with the new letter tiles, sight word manipulatives, and sequencing cards you generously helped provide, our students are literally building words and sentences with their own hands. This physical act of construction gives them a concrete understanding of literacy concepts like phonics, spelling patterns, and sentence structure. Just last week, during a small group activity, I witnessed a truly powerful moment: a group of students burst into spontaneous cheers when they successfully spelled out a complex, multi-syllable word – \"extraordinary\" – entirely by themselves, using the new letter tiles. This project isn't just about writing; it's about making literacy tangible, exciting, and deeply personal.\r\n\r\nThe same transformative effect has been equally evident in our math lessons. Abstract mathematical concepts, often daunting to young learners, are now being grasped with remarkable clarity and enthusiasm. Our students are actively using the new unifix cubes, base-ten blocks, and fraction circles to visualize and understand concepts like addition, subtraction, and place value. For example, understanding regrouping in subtraction used to be a common sticking point. Now, with the base-ten blocks, they can physically exchange a \"ten\" stick for ten \"ones\" blocks, making the abstract process concrete, logical, and easy to manipulate. This hands-on approach removes the intimidation factor and allows them to experiment, make mistakes, and discover solutions.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next exciting steps for our students involve integrating these invaluable manipulatives into independent learning centers and collaborative problem-solving activities. They'll use the literacy tools to craft their own imaginative short stories and expand their vocabulary. In math, they'll tackle more complex problems and explore the fascinating world of fractions and geometry. We're also planning a special \"Discovery Showcase\" later in the semester, where students will demonstrate how they've used these materials to deepen their understanding.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has truly opened up a world of possibilities for our students, giving them the essential, hands-on tools they need to grasp fundamental literacy and math concepts in a way that is both incredibly effective and profoundly engaging. Thank you for being such an essential, cherished part of their educational journey and for empowering them to learn, grow, and thrive in such a tangible and meaningful way.","fullyFundedDate":1727880964299,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-boost-literacy-and-ma/8467957/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Learning Boost: Literacy and Math Manipulatives for Engaged Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Malpica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9559458_orig.jpg?crop=508,508,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753184040102","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-malpica"},{"teacherId":9559458,"projectId":8444979,"letterContent":"Our new rug, generously funded by your \"Donate a Rug for Warm Little Feet in Our Kindergarten Classroom\" campaign, have truly transformed our learning space! My main circle time rug instantly creates a clear, cozy spot where the kids naturally gather, helping them focus on stories and songs and making whole-group management a breeze. Then, a separate rug dedicated to free play and social interaction encourages imaginative play and collaborative skills, giving them a soft, inviting space to build, create, and share with their friends – plus, it helps dampen some of the classroom noise. Finally, using a rug to define each learning center visually cues the children to specific activity zones, promoting independence as they access materials and stay engaged in their tasks, which ultimately makes transitions smoother and keeps our classroom beautifully organized.","fullyFundedDate":1727880963658,"projectUrl":"project/optimizing-kindergarten-learning-spaces/8449461/","projectTitle":"Optimizing Kindergarten Learning Spaces with Strategic Rug Placement","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Malpica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9559458_orig.jpg?crop=508,508,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753184040102","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-malpica"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27891","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":264,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":92,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.5,"schoolId":27891,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/addison-school-district-4/lincoln-elementary-school/27891"}
