We are using the resources daily. The Big Book cart has been instrumental in not only in my regular reading program, but also with the Big Books that came with your donation!\r\n\r\nWe are using the Big Book Cart to display reading texts from our Open Court Reading curriculum. Before, I was \"balancing\" the books to the best of my ability. This made it difficult to not only read, but even trickier when I wanted the kids to interact with the text. Now, we have a place to set the Big Books! The kindergartners can follow along and track while I read. They can interact with the text by pointing out capital and lower-case letters and show where a sentence starts and ends. The children can point out words and spaces between words. With the Big Book Cart, all the students can watch and participate and interact.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the new Big Books are super fun. Sometimes these are used on the Big Book Cart. At other times, the students can all fit around the Big Book on the floor and explore the text together.\r\n\r\nWhen my classroom first saw the new materials, they were so excited! I love seeing kindergarteners eyes go wide! One student said, \"Mrs. Kindberg, now you can stop dropping that big book!\" So true! I introduced a \"5 Senses\" science project with \"My Five Senses\" by Aliki Big Book during a Fall Pie Tasting Experiment. We were able to invite first and second grade to join us and the Big Book Format allowed for easy access for all to explore the senses. \r\n\r\nFor next steps, the book cart continues to be an asset in teaching throughout the day! Not only does it hold Big Books, but a small whiteboard for teaching in all subjects too. Our next project returns to Aliki's book on senses as my kindergarten scientists set up an experiment using the vermicompost that our classroom red wigglers created and compare it to store bought potting soil. We will be using our senses to smell, feel, (no tasting on this one) and see to compare and contrast the soils before we plant seeds. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your support that has helped enrich my classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1731078241454,"projectUrl":"project/making-connections-diversity-in-our-wor/8843234/","projectTitle":"Making Connections: Diversity in Our World","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kindberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9785402"},{"teacherId":9729370,"projectId":8766767,"letterContent":"The drone and robot have been amazing assets to my classroom. This has been a huge missing link in coding for my students but now they are able to see their coding come to life. \r\nAs our world moves to being more computerized, they are able to learn about a part of it that will be of great value to them. While the drone can be difficult maneuvering, all of my students have put in the practice and are now able to successfully make it through an obstacle course. \r\nEvery student in both of my classes, with the encouragement of their classmates, have successfully been able to run the robot and drone. A couple of my students were shy at first as they were worried about crashing the drone but through trial and error they were successful in their pursuits.\r\nMy students are so very appreciate in being given this opportunity that would not have been possible without generous donors like you.
