We received our first issue of the StoryWorks and students were so excited to read all the fantastic articles and stories. The readers theater was a particular hit and after we did our first read through, even hesitant students were volunteering for reading \"roles\". During our third read, students stood at the front of the room for their audience, using their \"loud and proud\" voices. The reading confidence and excitement that I am seeing students gain is immeasurable! \r\n\r\nThis week students were able to take home their issue and I had a student comment that she couldn't wait to \"recite\" the poem from the magazine to her mom. \"Recite\" was one of our vocabulary words from our reading curriculum, and seeing that student apply it to these materials was beyond gratifying. I know a magazine seems like a small thing, but it all adds up and promotes literacy in meaningful ways.
