While many of us love getting lost in a thick novel, for a five-year-old, the magic is in the \"I can do it\" moment. These low-level Accelerated Reader (AR) books are designed with repetitive patterns, high-frequency sight words, and strong picture support. These aren't just stories; they are the training wheels that allow my students to practice phonemic awareness and tracking print from left to right without becoming frustrated.\r\n\r\nWith these new titles, we are practicing fluency—learning to read with expression rather than just sounding out letters—and comprehension, as the students use the vibrant illustrations to explain what is happening in the plot. I've noticed a particular shift in my more hesitant readers. Students who used to shy away from reading AR because \"the words are too big,\" now hunt for the new AR books every morning. Seeing them successfully pass reading quizzes and earn those points give them a massive boost in confidence. You haven't just provided books, you've provided the success stories that will turn these children into lifelong readers. Thank you for investing in their future!","fullyFundedDate":1768252383880,"projectUrl":"project/launching-little-readers-low-level-book/9870962/","projectTitle":"Launching Little Readers: Low-Level Books for Kindergarteners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Quevillon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10339948"},{"teacherId":10339949,"projectId":9870965,"letterContent":"Our new classroom library has made a meaningful difference in how my kindergarten students experience reading each day. These lower level Accelerated Reader books are helping build essential early literacy skills such as letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and simple word decoding. Because these books are filled with decodable words, students are able to apply what they are learning without becoming frustrated, which keeps their confidence high and their motivation strong. With engaging pictures and predictable text, students are gaining confidence as they begin to connect sounds to letters and recognize high-frequency sight words. These foundational skills are critical in helping young learners transition from learning to read to eventually reading to learn.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom has become an exciting and interactive part of the day. Students eagerly select books that match their individual reading levels, allowing them to practice independently while still feeling successful. We spend time reading together as a group, in small guided reading sessions, and one-on-one, where students can demonstrate their growing skills. Many of my students are especially motivated by our school's Accelerated Reader reward system, and several have already earned AR shirts a huge point of pride for them! The new books have made it possible for every child to feel included and supported, no matter where they are in their reading journey.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant about reading are now some of the most enthusiastic participants. One student, who struggled to recognize letters at the beginning of the year, now proudly reads simple sentences aloud. Others are excited to take books home and share them with their families, building a love of reading beyond the classroom. Thanks to your generosity, my students are not only improving their literacy skills but also developing confidence and joy in reading that will stay with them for years to come. Thank you I will use with all my future students!","fullyFundedDate":1768252383658,"projectUrl":"project/giving-every-kindergartener-a-book-they/9870965/","projectTitle":"Giving Every Kindergartener a Book They Can Read","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bradford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10339949"},{"teacherId":7202844,"projectId":6910556,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity and compassion during such a difficult time for our school community. As educators, we are continually exploring innovative solutions to enhance student learning and cater to diverse learning styles. The adoption of these flexible furniture options has proven to be a valuable tool in fostering an environment where students thrive academically and socially.\r\nFloor desk-chair combos and wobble feet are designed to promote movement and comfort while maintaining a productive learning space. The concept of allowing students to move freely while working has garnered significant attention in educational settings, particularly for those with higher energy levels or students who benefit from alternative seating arrangements to maintain focus. With a growing understanding of how physical movement can positively impact cognitive development, these seating options support students in their quest for focus, improved concentration, and enhanced learning outcomes. \r\nThe positive classroom environment fostered by these flexible seating arrangements has translated into better overall classroom behavior. The freedom to move when necessary helps to reduce disruptive behavior and supports emotional regulation, contributing to a more productive and harmonious classroom.\r\nMost importantly, the students absolutely love them!
