These resources have transformed our classroom into a dynamic learning environment where students can observe and analyze real-time ecological interactions. Currently, we are using the aquarium to study aquatic ecosystems, measuring water quality parameters such as pH, ammonia, and nitrate levels to understand the delicate balance needed to sustain life. Simultaneously, the LED grow lights are supporting our hydroponics project, allowing students to investigate how different light conditions affect plant growth. One particularly exciting moment was when students observed the first signs of aquatic plant growth in the aquarium, sparking discussions about photosynthesis and nutrient cycling in aquatic ecosystems.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was palpable—they eagerly gathered around as we set up the aquarium, brainstorming ideas for experiments and hypotheses they could test. Many of them had never worked with live aquatic organisms before, and this experience has deepened their appreciation for environmental science. Moving forward, our next steps include analyzing how varying environmental factors impact both aquatic and hydroponic plant growth. Students will collect and compare data over time, culminating in a final project where they present their findings and propose solutions for maintaining balanced ecosystems. This project has not only enhanced their understanding of biological concepts but has also fostered curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking—skills they will carry beyond the classroom.
