Because of your donation, my primary students are already building foundational coding skills in a hands-on and engaging way.\r\n\r\nEach robot comes with directional cards that students use to plan a path. They carefully sequence the cards to guide the robot through routes they design. As they work, they are learning essential coding concepts like sequencing and problem-solving. When the robot doesn't follow the expected path, students quickly realize they need to go back, rethink their steps, and fix their \"code.\" They are practicing early debugging skills without even realizing it!\r\n\r\nOne of the students' favorite features is that the robot is shaped like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This connects perfectly to a lesson we did on writing clear, step-by-step directions for making a sandwich. Students love making the connection and often remind each other to be \"as clear as we were with our sandwich instructions\" so the robot can succeed.\r\n\r\nIt has been wonderful to watch students collaborate, think critically, and celebrate when their robot successfully completes a path. These experiences are building a strong foundation that will support their future learning in coding and technology for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this opportunity possible for my students. Your support is truly making a lasting impact in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1766877965996,"projectUrl":"project/expanding-young-minds-through-the-langua/9693711/","projectTitle":"Expanding Young Minds Through the Language of Coding","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hampton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5518785_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747696222725","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5518785"},{"teacherId":9218942,"projectId":9306603,"letterContent":"The new recorders you helped fund will be a fantastic addition to our music class! My students were ecstatic to see the materials and have been (mostly) respectful of them while using them. They've used them to create poster projects, team flags, informational texts, and more. Most recently, two classes completed Black History Month posters using some of the materials and two other classes did posters about the planets in our solar system. \r\nThis quarter, I plan to continue using these materials to learn about the plant life cycle and growing plants from seed to stalk.
