The new pH probes have already made a tremendous impact in our classroom. We recently completed a laboratory investigation in which students performed acid-base titrations on sour candies to determine the amount of acid present in each candy. The probes allowed students to collect accurate, real-time pH data and clearly identify equivalence points, giving them a much deeper understanding of the chemistry behind the experiment.\r\n\r\nWhen the equipment arrived, students were genuinely excited to use the new technology. Many commented on how much easier and more reliable the probes were compared to the older battery-operated equipment we had been using for years. The improved accuracy and efficiency allowed students to spend more time analyzing their results and discussing the chemistry rather than troubleshooting equipment issues.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students are experiencing chemistry the way scientists do, through hands-on investigation and high-quality data collection. These probes will continue to be used in future labs involving acids and bases, reaction rates, equilibrium, and other AP Chemistry topics. Thank you for helping provide meaningful laboratory experiences that make science more engaging, authentic, and memorable for our students. Your generosity is making a lasting difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1766863882685,"projectUrl":"project/ph-probes/9955172/","projectTitle":"pH Probes","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Rigney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10381788"},{"teacherId":188175,"projectId":9898528,"letterContent":"The frog dissection materials will be awesome when we do the frog dissection in May of this year, but the aquaponics system has been a huge hit. I have students that regularly come see me at lunch to take care of classroom plants and critters. One student became the plant manager and has worked daily to check on the system and refill water, fertilizer, etc. \r\n\r\nThe plant manager also harvested our first crop of lettuce as seen in the pictures and we had a salad party during our school's lunch. We really enjoyed the fresh lettuce and students commented on how much sweeter the lettuce was fresh. We also gave our madagascar hissing cockroaches and mealworms some of the lettuce. \r\n\r\nWhat is really cool, is after she cut the lettuce leaves from the stalk, it is able to grow back. I was able to show it to all of my classes when we were discussing asexual reproduction/mitosis as a real life example.
