Most of them have missing parts, holes, or other damage. I have been teaching in my classroom for 5 years with these tables and try to instill a culture of respect for our materials, but many students don't see the value in respecting something already so damaged or degraded. \r\n\r\nMy students were THRILLED to hear that we were getting some new tables and were excited for the opportunity to sit at/use them. The old tables have been pushed against a wall to use as additional lab space. Working in a title one school has many challenges, and there wouldn't be money in my budget to purchase new tables and our yearly consumable lab supplies. \r\n\r\nStudents in my class have a lab experience at least twice a week, and in some units like chemistry, daily. Having safe and sturdy new tables allows my students to see their science education is worth investing in.
