Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in my kindergarten classroom and has helped my students grow not only as readers, but also as curious, confident learners.\r\n\r\nHaving these new books in our classroom has given my students the opportunity to explore a variety of stories, characters, and ideas. Each book introduces important early literacy skills such as identifying letters and sounds, building vocabulary, recognizing sight words, making predictions, retelling stories, identifying characters and setting, and making connections between the text and their own lives. Most importantly, these books help my students understand that reading is something to enjoy and something they can be successful at.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is a daily adventure! We read together as a class, talk about the pictures and words, make predictions, ask and answer questions, and share our thoughts about the stories we read. My students love turning the pages, noticing details in the illustrations, and talking with their classmates about what they think will happen next. These books give us opportunities to practice important reading skills in a way that feels fun and meaningful.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this project is seeing students become excited about books. Students who may have been hesitant to participate in reading activities are now eager to choose a book, look through the pages, and share what they notice. Some students love rereading their favorite stories again and again, while others enjoy discovering new characters and topics. Watching their confidence grow as they recognize familiar words, make connections, and retell stories has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are building a foundation that will stay with them far beyond kindergarten.
