Through these stories, my kindergarten students are learning how to identify emotions such as anger, worry, sadness, and happiness, while also discovering strategies to manage those feelings in healthy ways. The books open the door for meaningful conversations about empathy, self-regulation, problem-solving, and understanding that everyone experiences emotions differently. These lessons help students build the emotional foundation they need in order to be successful both inside and outside of the classroom.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive, engaging, and centered around discussion. During our read-aloud time, students gather together on our carpet while we read the story as a class, pausing often to talk about the characters, their feelings, and how the situations connect to our own lives. The matching plush toys have made the stories even more meaningful because students can physically hold and connect with each emotion as we read. This hands-on experience helps bring the stories to life and keeps even my youngest learners engaged.\r\n\r\nSeveral of my students have especially connected with these books. Some children who previously struggled to express their feelings are now beginning to point to a plush toy or name an emotion from the stories to communicate what they are experiencing. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch students who were once quiet during discussions now confidently share their thoughts and feelings with their classmates. These books have truly helped create a classroom where students feel seen, understood, and supported.","fullyFundedDate":1707597121449,"projectUrl":"project/sel-books-will-help-my-kindergarteners-s/8162641/","projectTitle":"SEL Books will Help my Kindergarteners Spot their Feelings!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fetty","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9101258_orig.jpg?crop=2358,2358,x231,y332&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691868613642","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9101258"},{"teacherId":7951456,"projectId":10145815,"letterContent":"Thanks so much for your generosity. The kids loved having the book to relate the experience back to. \r\n We also have a bug unit going on, and we have caterpillars that are turning into butterflies before our very eyes, and the books relating to this topic have been such a great addition to our story time. \r\n\r\n Thanks for thinking of my class and helping them to have a great first year in school!","fullyFundedDate":1774729394756,"projectUrl":"project/science-books-for-curious-little-minds/10145815/","projectTitle":"Science Books for Curious Little Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amanda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7951456_orig.jpg?crop=344,344,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752697926485","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7951456"},{"teacherId":7951456,"projectId":9392691,"letterContent":"Your donation has helped me in my classroom so much.
