After the Donors Choose project was fully funded, I set out the books on tables for the students to see. Our students were so happily surprised to find a stack of new books about the countries that their families and classmates are from! They had huge smiles on their faces when opening the books and finding information to share with each other about the many different countries.\r\n\r\nThey looked for popular landmarks to visit and shared some great fun facts about the country. They were able to see how the countries were laid out geographically and what their climate and landscape looked like. The beautiful pictures in the books made the countries come alive for the students who have never been to them. Learning about the wildlife helped them compare animals from our hometown with those in other countries.\r\n\r\nWe were able to talk about the variety of customs, communities, and cultures from the countries. Our discussions included how they play, how they go to school, and what they celebrate. One of their favorite things they loved from the books were the few recipes included in the books. They are excited about them and want to go make a few at home!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for bringing excitement to our students.
