What started as a small collection of hygiene products in my classroom has grown into a resource that students across our grade level can access throughout the day in our common area.\r\n\r\nMany of our students face challenges outside of school that most people never see. Some do not always have access to the resources needed to shower regularly or keep up with basic hygiene. For middle school students especially, this can have a tremendous impact on their confidence and social interactions. Thanks to your generosity, we are able to quietly help students freshen up first thing in the morning before the school day begins. This simple act often prevents embarrassment, boosts confidence, and helps students start their day feeling ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful changes we have seen is in students' social confidence. Students who once sat alone, avoided participating, or seemed withdrawn are beginning to engage more with their peers. We have watched students gain the confidence to sit with new people at lunch, join classroom discussions, and participate in activities without worrying about how others might perceive them. The products you provided are helping remove barriers that many people never think about but that can greatly affect a child's daily experience.\r\n\r\nThe impact has extended beyond my classroom as well. Other teachers have seen the positive difference these resources have made and have begun creating similar spaces for their own students. What started as one project has inspired a larger effort throughout our school to ensure students feel cared for, supported, and respected.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us meet a need that goes far beyond academics. Your support has given students not only access to essential items but also something even more important: dignity, confidence, and the feeling that someone cares about them. The impact of your generosity is visible every single day, and we are incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1779021418550,"projectUrl":"project/confidence-starts-with-care/10204510/","projectTitle":"Confidence Starts With Care","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Scott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10482135"},{"teacherId":10482135,"projectId":10284942,"letterContent":"Our project, *Interactive Maps for Interactive Minds*, has transformed the way students engage with geography and history in our classroom. The new maps have allowed students to move beyond simply memorizing locations and instead explore how geography influences people, cultures, events, and decisions throughout history. Students are developing important skills such as analyzing geographic information, identifying patterns, interpreting historical events through maps, and making connections between physical geography and human activity.\r\n\r\nLearning with maps has become much more hands-on and engaging. Students use the maps during lessons, discussions, group activities, and investigations. Rather than looking at a small image in a textbook, they can interact with large, detailed maps that help them visualize historical events, migration patterns, trade routes, territorial changes, and geographic features. These visual tools make complex concepts easier to understand and remember.\r\n\r\nMany students who struggle with traditional reading-heavy activities have especially benefited from the maps. Visual learners are more confident when they can see information displayed geographically, and students frequently gather around the maps to ask questions, point out discoveries, and make connections on their own. It has been exciting to watch students become more curious about places, historical events, and how geography shapes the world around them.\r\n\r\nThe maps have helped create a classroom where students are actively exploring rather than passively receiving information. They have sparked discussions, encouraged critical thinking, and made history come alive in ways that would not be possible without your support.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping bring learning off the page and into our classroom. Your generosity has given our students valuable tools that will continue to inspire curiosity, engagement, and a deeper understanding of the world for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1778788842070,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-maps-for-interactive-minds/10284942/","projectTitle":"Interactive Maps for Interactive Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Scott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10482135"},{"teacherId":10482135,"projectId":10204131,"letterContent":"Our project, Every Student Deserves to See Their Story in History, has had a meaningful impact on our students by helping them connect with history in a more personal and engaging way. These books have introduced students to diverse perspectives, cultures, and experiences that are often missing from traditional history textbooks. As students read, they are developing important skills such as analyzing historical events from multiple viewpoints, identifying cause-and-effect relationships, evaluating sources, and making connections between the past and the world they live in today.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks very different now than it did before. Students have opportunities to explore historical topics that interest them, participate in discussions with their peers, and reflect on how the stories they read relate to larger themes in U.S. history. The books encourage curiosity and help students see that history is not just a collection of dates and facts, but the stories of real people whose experiences shaped our nation.\r\n\r\nSome of the most rewarding moments have come from students who rarely showed excitement about reading in the past. Several students have eagerly picked up books because they saw people who looked like them, shared similar backgrounds, or faced challenges they could relate to. Others have become fascinated by historical figures and events they had never learned about before. These books have sparked conversations, encouraged empathy, and helped students realize that their own stories and experiences matter.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make history more inclusive, engaging, and meaningful for our students. Your support has given them the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the stories they read while also learning about the diverse experiences that make up our shared history.","fullyFundedDate":1778505059871,"projectUrl":"project/every-student-deserves-to-see-their-stor/10204131/","projectTitle":"Every Student Deserves to See Their Story in History","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Scott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10482135"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22765","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":530,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":14,"gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.2,"schoolId":22765,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about LaSalle Preparatory School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"LaSalle Preparatory School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/niagara-falls-city-school-district/lasalle-preparatory-school/22765"}
