My students were so excited when they first saw our new classroom library materials. Having a comfortable, inviting space filled with books has made reading feel like something to look forward to. Students love choosing a book, finding a cozy spot, and settling in to read independently or with a partner.\r\n\r\nWe are using our new resources every day during independent reading, small-group instruction, and moments when students simply want to pick up a book and read. One of my favorite moments has been watching students recommend books to one another and get excited when a classmate finds a book they love. Our cozy reading corner has become a place where students can slow down, explore new stories, and build confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nAs we continue the school year, my students will keep working on reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and developing a love of reading. Your generosity has helped create a classroom environment where students can see themselves as readers and feel proud of their growth. They immediately used the paint stirrers and paint supplies to design informational art to display in our school garden. The students completed a research project and then used their creativity to illustrate the ideas in an eye-catching way. \r\n\r\nThe students were so excited about the variety of seeds that we received and have already planted many of them out in the garden. We were able to use the oven to make chips from our first kale harvest.\r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to using the notebooks next year to have larger botany journals to be able to do even more labs, nature journals, and scientific sketches.
