The artistic process is all about choice. What should I make? How do I make it? What materials should I use and how do I use them? Which materials will best express and convey my ideas, thoughts, and feelings? One of my goals as an art educator has been to provide more opportunities for my students to engage in the art-making process through a choice-based, or TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) centered art studio set up. Piloting a TAB art studio program often requires specific, sometimes expensive materials that are not always accessible through school budgets. Your generous donations enabled us to source a variety of artistic media, such as; Roylco decorative papers; origami paper; Crayola Construction Paper crayons; Nawod Acrylic paint markers, and drawing guide books, to name a few.\r\n\r\nThe two newly outfitted choice centers created from your generous donations have already piqued students' creative curiosity! Acrylic paint markers have the upper grades abuzz with excitement because they realize how special such coloring materials are to use. The vibrant colors that result specifically from using Crayola colored construction paper crayons on dark colored construction paper backgrounds have the younger grades asking to use them more frequently than markers!\r\n \r\nThese materials will continue to provide students with opportunities that will enrich their art education, spark joy and imagination, and lead to creative self-discovery. We are truly grateful for your kindness and investment in the arts. Your donations enabled us to purchase a variety of artistic materials that will make a lasting difference in the lives of our students, and we deeply appreciate your commitment to nurturing creativity in our community.","fullyFundedDate":1753020496918,"projectUrl":"project/young-artists-choice/9471229/","projectTitle":"Young Artists' Choice","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Mulligan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9925714_orig.png?crop=450,450,x80,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752714438095","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9925714"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83142","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":772,"numTeachers":63,"percentFrplEligible":19,"percentAsian":78,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":83142,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakeville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakeville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/great-neck-public-schools/lakeville-school/83142"}
