One of our favorite classroom moments happened during our literacy centers. Students used the alphabet stamps in the kinetic sand to form letters while saying the sounds in both English and Spanish. I heard students excitedly say things like, \"M says /m/ like mamá!\" as they pressed stamps into the sand. This hands-on experience has made letter recognition and sound connection much more meaningful and engaging for my young learners.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up with excitement. There were smiles, gasps, and so many eager hands ready to explore! The sensory table quickly became a favorite spot, where students worked together, shared tools, and used their imagination. The kitchen toys and cookie cutters sparked dramatic play, with students pretending to cook, serve food, and even practice conversations with their peers in both languages. It was incredible to see their creativity and language skills come to life so naturally.\r\n\r\nThe addition of storage has also made a huge impact. Everything now has a place, which allows students to independently access materials and take responsibility for cleaning up—an important skill at this age.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build on these experiences through our current unit on letters, sounds, and vocabulary development. Students will use the sensory materials to create and identify letters, sort objects by beginning sounds, and engage in collaborative play that supports both language development and social skills. We are also beginning to incorporate more structured small-group activities where students will use the materials to form simple words, retell stories, and strengthen their fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are not only learning—they are excited to learn. You have helped create a classroom environment where curiosity is encouraged, language is celebrated, and every child feels empowered to explore. It is definitely a much needed experience for them and allows them to use their new skills as a scientist to predict and test objects. They then draw their conclusions after they experiment in their journals and it is leading to discussions and vocabulary as well. \r\nThe city blocks were a hit as soon as they came.
