What started as a classroom craft activity quickly became a meaningful lesson about kindness, generosity, and thinking about others.\r\n\r\nAs we continue this project, my students are learning that even small acts of kindness can brighten someone's day. The tubs have helped make learning engaging, interactive, and meaningful for all learners, especially our dual language students.\r\nWhen the students first saw the letter tubs, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to explore the colorful letters and could not wait to begin using them. Many students smiled, cheered, and asked to start right away. The hands-on nature of the materials has helped boost confidence, particularly for students who benefit from tactile learning and need extra support with early literacy skills.\r\nMoving forward, students will continue using the Spanish letter tubs to strengthen phonics, spelling, and early reading skills. We are beginning to build simple sentences and connect sounds to writing during small-group instruction. These resources will support our ongoing goal of developing strong bilingual readers and writers, and your donation has made a lasting impact on their learning journey. 💙📚","fullyFundedDate":1762266271333,"projectUrl":"project/building-bilingual-brains-one-letter-at/9622829/","projectTitle":"Building Bilingual Brains, One Letter at a Time!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Diaz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9027002_orig.jpg?crop=400,400,x0,y18&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683481760905","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9027002"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27740","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":642,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"20.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.9,"schoolId":27740,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about La Merced Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"La Merced Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/montebello-unified-school-district/la-merced-elementary-school/27740"}
