The headphones have already made a big difference during class practice. Students are now able to work with our music software more independently, following along with metronomes and recordings while blocking out distractions of others playing around them. This has allowed them to focus on accuracy and rhythm in a way they couldn't before. It's also helping me during assessments—since I can now hear their playing much more clearly in recorded videos, I'm able to give better, more personalized feedback to each student that I wouldn't have had time to do before.\r\n\r\nThe books have also been such a gift. They've provided us with fresh pieces and exercises to use in class, which means my students get to learn from a wider variety of resources without the pressure of buying their own. It's been exciting to see them explore new material and challenge themselves in ways they hadn't before. With my beginning orchestra students, I have been able to introduce them to \"real\" music much quicker, and the students have loved setting themselves up into small groups to play together (as one of the books we received has songs with melody, bass line, and harmony, but the way it's written makes it accessible to students who are not yet proficient at reading standard notation).\r\n\r\nAs a new teacher who does not have a lot of resources and does not have a large budget, I appreciate the help that you have provided me and my students. We thank you for your kindness and hope the orchestra program will continue to grow and enjoy these resources for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1746786519171,"projectUrl":"project/books-and-headphones-for-orchestra-succ/9329031/","projectTitle":"Books and Headphones for Orchestra Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9718667_orig.png?crop=928,928,x140,y33&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732816770777","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9718667"},{"teacherId":9718667,"projectId":8975568,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our classrooms. My students and I have been putting the new tuners to great use, and they have truly transformed the way we start each class. With 40 students in my largest classes, tuning used to be a time-consuming process that left little time for playing and learning. Now, students have gained both independence and accountability as they take ownership of tuning their own instruments. This simple but powerful shift allows us to get class started faster and focus more on making music together.\r\nWhen I first told the students that we would be receiving tuners for our classroom, they were beyond excited. They couldn't wait to learn how to use them, and their enthusiasm was infectious. After a few lessons on how to properly tune their instruments, I was incredibly impressed with how quickly they picked up the process. Not only can they now confidently tune on their own, but they've also developed a much stronger understanding of intonation and how small adjustments impact their sound.\r\nAs we move forward, these tuners will continue to play an important role in our daily routine and our overall musicianship. Students are learning to listen more carefully and are developing critical ear-training skills that will benefit them far beyond our classroom. Thank you for giving my students the tools to become more independent musicians — your generosity is helping shape the next generation of thoughtful, capable, and confident musicians.","fullyFundedDate":1733290757506,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-set-of-tuners-2-schools/8975568/","projectTitle":"Classroom Set of Tuners (2 Schools)","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nelson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9718667_orig.png?crop=928,928,x140,y33&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732816770777","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9718667"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62420","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":914,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":12,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":45.5,"schoolId":62420,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kyrene Altadena Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kyrene Altadena Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/kyrene-school-district/kyrene-altadena-middle-school/62420"}
