As third graders, we like to move around and not be stuck at a desk all day. It is also a place we meet for our morning meeting each day as we build our classroom culture and relationships. \r\nThe reading and math manipulatives are used throughout our whole grade level. The students could hardly wait to dig into the boxes and start building. When I told them that people from all over had donated to make our LEGO Club possible, their eyes lit up—they couldn't believe that others cared so much about their creativity and learning. We spent the first day exploring the different pieces, brainstorming design ideas, and setting up our first group challenge: to build a model of their \"dream school.\" The teamwork, problem-solving, and laughter that filled the room were exactly what I had hoped for when I started this project.\r\n\r\nSince then, our LEGO Club has become a highlight of the week. Students are using the sets to complete themed design challenges tied to STEM skills, story writing, and even character development. They plan, test, adjust, and present their builds to one another—learning to collaborate, communicate, and think critically along the way. One of my favorite moments was watching a group who initially struggled to agree on an idea end up creating a full \"Book Adventure Land\" complete with a spinning story tower and a mini-library made entirely of bricks. It was incredible to see their persistence pay off.\r\n\r\nNext, students will begin documenting their creations through photos and short reflections, turning our LEGO Club into a \"Click, Snap, Create\" digital gallery. We'll combine their images and writing into a class showcase to share with families.
