Because of your generosity, my 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys were able to participate in an experience that many of them had never had before, a formal dining event focused on confidence, character, and real-world social skills.\r\n\r\nIn the weeks leading up to the luncheon, students learned about proper table settings, the American zigzag style of dining, posture, napkin placement, conversational etiquette, introductions, and respectful communication. We practiced making eye contact, offering firm handshakes, engaging in appropriate table talk, and responding politely in social situations. For many of my students in BASE and Social Skills, these are critical life skills that support their growth far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe day of the luncheon was truly special. The students dressed up, took pride in their appearance, and entered the room with a sense of maturity and excitement. They practiced pulling out chairs, waiting to begin eating, using utensils correctly, saying \"please\" and \"thank you,\" and engaging in thoughtful conversation. I watched students who sometimes struggle with self-regulation rise to the occasion and demonstrate self-control, confidence, and respect.\r\n\r\nAfter the luncheon, several students shared that they felt \"grown,\" \"important,\" and \"proud\" of themselves. One student shared that he now feels more confident going to restaurants with his family. Another expressed that he didn't realize how important manners were until he saw how it changed the way people responded to him. These reflections showed me that the experience left a lasting impression.\r\n\r\nYour support did more than fund a meal, it created an opportunity for my students to practice independence, build self-esteem, and develop social skills they will carry into high school, job interviews, college settings, and everyday life. For many of them, this was their first formal dining experience, and it was empowering to see them succeed in that environment.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and for helping create a memorable, meaningful experience. Your generosity directly impacted their confidence, behavior, and understanding of respectful social interaction.","fullyFundedDate":1765205102402,"projectUrl":"project/manners-make-magic-teaching-manners-co/9650070/","projectTitle":"Manners Make Magic: Teaching Manners, Confidence, and Connection","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morgan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10223581"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14475","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":997,"numTeachers":96,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":75,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.3,"schoolId":14475,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Klein Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Klein Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/klein-independent-school-district/klein-intermediate-school/14475"}
