Many of my students are experiencing art class for the very first time, so simply having their own quality materials felt empowering. We used the new supplies to create \"My Story\" layered artworks where students combined drawing, collage, and printmaking techniques to represent their families, cultures, and dreams. Seeing them confidently experiment with materials that they've never had access to before was truly special.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, their faces said it all. There were gasps, big smiles, and so many \"Are these really for us?!\" moments. For many of my students, who come from low-income families, access to high-quality art supplies is rare. They treated the materials with such respect and excitement. It immediately elevated their sense of ownership and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will be revisiting their projects through structured reflection and peer critiques to deepen their understanding of artistic techniques and meaning. We're building toward a classroom gallery walk where they will present their work and explain their artistic choices. These next steps help them not only grow as artists, but also as confident communicators who can share their voice with the world — something your support has made possible.\r\n\r\nThank you for being part of our creative journey!","fullyFundedDate":1620060018623,"projectUrl":"project/an-art-classroom-full-of-possibilities/5523529/","projectTitle":"An Art Classroom Full of Possibilities!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gonzalez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7713043_orig.png?crop=452,452,x267,y242&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619272736162","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7713043"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_126101","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":530,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":43,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":126101,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about KIPP Journey Primary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"KIPP Journey Primary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-department-of-education/kipp-journey-primary/126101"}
