This year has been a challenging one—I lost my dedicated classroom space and have been teaching 5th–8th grade art in the cafeteria and in other teachers' classrooms. Despite those obstacles, your donation brought stability, excitement, and creativity back into our lessons. Having these new materials has made it possible for my students to fully engage in hands-on artmaking again, even in spaces that aren't designed for art.\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their reactions were priceless—there were wide eyes, excited whispers, and so many eager hands ready to start creating. We recently used the supplies to honor 26 famous African American painters using a variety of canvases and painting materials. Even in the busy cafeteria, the room felt like a real art studio for a moment. One student proudly told me it was the first time they felt like a \"real artist\" having their artwork displayed for the whole school to see. \r\n These lessons will help them explore storytelling through art while continuing to experiment with the materials you made possible. Your support has given my students not only supplies, but also the confidence and inspiration to keep creating—no matter where our classroom happens to be. Thank you for believing in them and helping bring art back into their day.","fullyFundedDate":1765294694562,"projectUrl":"project/art-in-motion/9921435/","projectTitle":"Art in Motion","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9337801"},{"teacherId":5071677,"projectId":9534797,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! The bean bag seats and seat cushions have already brought so much joy to my students. They love having flexible and comfortable seating options, and it has transformed the way they approach learning and creating. Instead of feeling confined, they are able to relax, think big, and express themselves more freely.\r\n\r\nThe impact on our classroom environment has been incredible. The new seating has opened up the space and made it more inviting, encouraging students to collaborate, share ideas, and take creative risks. They feel a greater sense of ownership and pride in our theatre room, which has helped strengthen our community. Your generosity made this possible, and I am truly grateful for the way you've invested in my students' creativity and growth.","fullyFundedDate":1754672285355,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seats-bold-performances/9534797/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seats, Bold Performances","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gerald","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5071677_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1525955148003","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msgerald420"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_109217","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":336,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":97,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":34.4,"schoolId":109217,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about KIPP District of Columbia - Valor Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"KIPP District of Columbia - Valor Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/district-of-columbia/kipp-dc-public-schools/kipp-dc-valor-academy/109217"}
