The new books you helped provide have opened the door to meaningful conversations about emotions, identity, and belonging. Through these texts, students are learning to recognize feelings in themselves and others, develop empathy, and practice strategies for managing big emotions—all while growing as readers and thinkers.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now looks and feels more intentional. We gather together for shared reading circles, where students are eager to take turns reading aloud and sharing how they relate to the characters. Our calm-down corner has also become a favorite spot for quiet reading and emotional reset. It's heartwarming to see students choosing books that reflect their own experiences and using those moments to regulate and re-engage in learning.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who once hesitated to read are now showing genuine excitement for book time. One student in particular loves pointing out how characters use calming techniques—deep breaths, self-talk, or drawing—to manage frustration, and she's begun trying those same tools herself. This project has truly helped our students connect literature with real-life skills for emotional growth.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in the power of books and for helping our students learn, reflect, and grow—both academically and emotionally.","fullyFundedDate":1758899186430,"projectUrl":"project/helping-students-see-themselves-and-find/9603355/","projectTitle":"Helping Students See Themselves and Find Their Calm","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9178161_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693406350032","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9178161"},{"teacherId":9178161,"projectId":9618124,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my project, Preparing to Serve Students Better. I've always been the kind of \"book person\" who reads with a highlighter in one hand and a notebook in the other, constantly connecting new insights to the real experiences of my students. Because of your generosity, I now have access to professional texts that not only inspire my teaching but also help prepare me for my upcoming clinical exam. These resources are equipping me with the knowledge and strategies I need to continue growing as both a learner and an educator.\r\n\r\nThe lessons introduced through these texts focus on restorative practices, student engagement, and building safe, supportive classroom environments. One of my favorite moments has been applying a new reflection strategy during a class circle—students shared their thoughts more openly and respectfully, which showed me firsthand how these practices create stronger classroom communities. It was a small, but powerful reminder that intentional teaching can change how students relate to one another.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, I feel more prepared for my clinical exam and, most importantly, better prepared to serve my students each day. Your support has elevated my teaching, and I am deeply grateful for the way you've invested in both my professional growth and my students' success.","fullyFundedDate":1758898829954,"projectUrl":"project/preparing-to-serve-students-better/9618124/","projectTitle":"Preparing to Serve Students Better","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9178161_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693406350032","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9178161"},{"teacherId":3816269,"projectId":8916248,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to our class project and supporting this year's group of kindergartners. We use the addition machine during intervention time and the hands on application helps the students to physically see how the problem is solved and helps build their number sense. Thanks to your generosity, we now have extra clothing on hand for our students — and honestly, it's made such a difference.\r\n\r\nIt might seem like a small thing, but for a little one who's had an accident, having clean, comfy clothes ready to go means everything. Instead of feeling embarrassed or having to sit out while waiting for someone to bring something, they can quickly change and get right back to learning. No stress, no shame — just support and comfort.\r\n\r\nI had one student recently who quietly came up to me after an accident, clearly upset. I was able to hand them a fresh outfit and a reassuring smile, and they were back with their classmates in just a few minutes, feeling okay again.
