One of my students built an entire structure for his cars using the magnetic cubes today. I am using the slime in my small groups to strengthen many of the students fine motor skills. The students love playing with the slime so much that when it is clean up time, they are begging to come back to small groups again tomorrow so they can use the slime again. Every time I bring out on of the items from this project the students react like it is Christmas, clapping and jumping up and down with excitement. \r\n\r\nI put out the puzzles last week and the students were eager to work them. These puzzles are a little more advanced than the puzzles I have, which is perfect for many of my students who were flying through the other puzzles so quickly showing me that these more advanced puzzles were very much needed.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to have all of these materials to enhance my students' hands on experiences. I use the career books, books about the brain, books about emotions, and books about kindness and respect during whole-group lessons, as well as in individual and small-group counseling sessions.\r\nThese books have helped create so many meaningful conversations. Students are learning how to recognize and understand their emotions, use calming strategies when they feel overwhelmed, and understand more about how their brains help them think, learn, make choices, and manage their feelings. The books about kindness and respect also help students understand how their words and actions affect others and why it is so important to treat classmates with compassion and respect.\r\nThe career books have also been a wonderful way to help students think about their future. I love watching them get excited when they discover a career they have never heard of before or begin talking about what they may want to be someday. These books help students recognize their interests and strengths and encourage them to dream about all the possibilities ahead of them.\r\nThe Clorox wipes and disinfecting spray are also very important in my counseling space. I use them to clean calming tools and fidget items between students so they are clean and ready for the next child who needs them.\r\nI am so thankful for the generosity that made these materials possible. Because of this project, I have more tools to help my students understand themselves, manage big feelings, build positive relationships, and begin thinking about their future.
