Before this project, many of our books were outdated and didn't reflect our students' interests. Now, our shelves are filled with engaging, relevant titles that our students are genuinely excited to read.\r\n\r\nThese new books have introduced and strengthened important literacy skills such as comprehension, vocabulary development, and critical thinking. Students are practicing making predictions, connecting stories to their own lives, and building confidence as independent readers. For many, reading has shifted from being a task to something they actually look forward to.\r\n\r\nIn our program, reading time is now a vibrant and active part of our day. Students eagerly browse the shelves, recommend books to one another, and spend time fully immersed in their reading. Homework time has also improved, as students who finish early or don't have assignments now have meaningful, enriching options.\r\n\r\nSome of the most rewarding moments come from students who previously said they were \"bored\" or didn't enjoy reading. Now, they light up with excitement, asking, \"Do we have this book?\" or eagerly trying something new. Seeing their enthusiasm grow and their confidence build has been incredibly impactful.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our students are more engaged, more curious, and developing a stronger love for reading every day. We are truly grateful for your support in making this transformation possible.","fullyFundedDate":1774011207035,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-our-after-school-library-back-t/10159729/","projectTitle":"Bringing Our After School Library Back to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lupian","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10337032_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1773854715360","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10337032"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39638","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":494,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"26.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":82.4,"schoolId":39638,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kingsbury Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kingsbury Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/redlands-unified-school-district/kingsbury-elementary-school/39638"}
