When the students first saw the Meta Quest 3 headset and accessories, their excitement was immediate. For many, this project provides access to cutting-edge technology they would otherwise never experience outside of school. We are currently using the headset, link cable, and battery packs to let students step directly into 3D environments for individual exploration. Having the charging station and extra power packs has been essential, keeping our devices running smoothly so students can focus on hands-on exploration without interruption.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I hope our students develop a passion to dive deeper into independent 3D world-building and interactive design. We hope to spark a strong interest in these areas and encourage students to start to dive deeper into the technical mechanics behind virtual spaces. This access does more than teach skills; it provides vital inspiration and drives a genuine passion for the future of technology. Thank you for giving them the reliable tools to explore what is possible!","fullyFundedDate":1779124012098,"projectUrl":"project/powering-up-our-virtual-reality-adventur/10290118/","projectTitle":"Powering Up Our Virtual Reality Adventures","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. H.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2497114_orig.jpg?crop=645,645,x74,y120&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746213370621","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2497114"},{"teacherId":2497114,"projectId":10295778,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support! This Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 serves as a functional interface for our technical lessons. In the classroom, the tablet acts as a bridge to more advanced hardware. Specifically, students have been using it to connect to our VR headsets, allowing them to manage and interact with virtual environments. It has also given them a dedicated platform to practice coding, moving them toward learning foundational programming languages like Python. Having access to this modern hardware allows them to focus on topics that are highly relevant to today's world and center their attention on projects they genuinely enjoy.\r\n\r\nThe most engaging aspect of the new hardware for the students is its connectivity. Beyond VR, they use the tablet to interface with IoT (Internet of Things) tech and various smart devices around the room. Because the tablet is housed in the CODi rugged case, students can pass the device around to collaborate on these projects and test their code without risk of damage. It has made the transition between writing code and seeing it execute on a physical device much smoother, keeping them focused on the hands-on aspects of the curriculum they find most interesting.\r\n\r\nThis setup has been particularly helpful for students who prefer concrete, applied learning over theoretical lessons. For example, a few students who found standard lectures abstract have engaged much better now that they can write a basic Python script on the tablet and immediately see it control a smart device or alter a VR setting. Having this single, reliable interface has helped them understand how software and hardware interact in real-world scenarios, turning a standard tech lesson into an enjoyable, practical experience.","fullyFundedDate":1779124011647,"projectUrl":"project/byte-sized-brilliance/10295778/","projectTitle":"Byte-Sized Brilliance","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. H.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2497114_orig.jpg?crop=645,645,x74,y120&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746213370621","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2497114"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38019","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1571,"numTeachers":105,"percentFrplEligible":21,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":96.6,"schoolId":38019,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kimberly High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kimberly High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/kimberly-area-school-district/kimberly-high-school/38019"}
