For many of my students, traditional methods of learning mathematics can feel overwhelming or frustrating. Having interactive tools and activities gives them opportunities to learn in different ways, practice at their own pace, and experience success.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom was able to receive an iPad, several calculators, engaging mathematical board games, dry-erase markers, and ink and printer toner. The printing supplies have also allowed me to create colorful, individualized reference worksheets and visual supports that students can use during instruction and independent practice.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has added another engaging resource to our classroom, giving students access to interactive learning opportunities. The calculators provide valuable support as students practice computation and build confidence with numbers. Our mathematical board games turn practice into an opportunity for students to learn while developing important social-emotional skills such as patience, communication, problem-solving, cooperation, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nThese resources help create a classroom environment where students feel encouraged to participate, take risks, make mistakes, and try again. As a middle school Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Support (SEBS) classroom, we focus not only on academics but also on helping students build executive functioning, emotional regulation, and collaboration skills. During a recent team-building activity, students used the new materials to complete problem-solving challenges that required communication, planning, and perseverance. It was rewarding to see students encourage one another, work through frustration appropriately, and celebrate each other's successes. These moments help reinforce the social-emotional skills they are practicing every day.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate. Students couldn't wait to explore everything and were eager to ask when they could start using the new supplies. Several commented that the classroom felt more welcoming and \"like a place they wanted to be.\" Seeing their enthusiasm reminded me how much a thoughtfully equipped classroom can boost motivation and engagement. These care baskets are available to all students . They are filled with hygiene items and students are able to take what they need with no questions asked or conversations with an adult. It creates a safe system to provide basic need to our youth without barriers. \r\n\r\nWithout these donations our care baskets would have had to end as our supplies were getting low. This means the world to us and our students . The students in my Social Emotional Behavioral groups are really enjoying the sand bin the most! My space has become exactly what I was hoping it would; a relaxing space for students to be able to regulate, de-escalate, and really enjoy utilizing. \r\n\r\nMy students were so excited to see all of the items we received. The SEL lessons in the books that were provided have been really helpful in keeping the students engaged in learning SEL and have provided them with many fundamentals of social emotional learning.\r\n\r\nMany of the notebooks and drawing books are being put to use starting after the Thanksgiving break! We are beginning to do journal writing using SEL prompts.
