You want to know why? Well, your support for our project has allowed us to make it more engaging and fun. It also makes my students more accountable for the learning that happens during our small group time. During this time block, my kids are sounding our words with consonants, vowels, digraphs, blends! They are able to manipulate each sound in a simple word and understand that a word can change by switching a phoneme in it. Their minds are blown and the their eyes twinkle when they realize this and it simply makes my teacher heart happy!\r\n\r\nWhen the package arrived, it felt like Christmas in my classroom. The students left for the day but they were so happy to see it when they arrived the next morning. We also discussed how we can be respectful to these materials so it will last longer and more students can benefit from the generosity of our donors - YOU!\r\n\r\nThe skills that they master using these materials will allow them to become wonderful and excited readers and writers. Who knows, maybe you get to read a book that they author in the future! But for now, we will stick to learning the basic stuff and be happy in the thought that people out there like you are cheering them on. They get to practice letter sounds and use the tiny mirrors to see how to make these sounds with their mouths. They also use the white boards and dry erase markers when we practice spelling and sentence writing. They are truly sharpening those skills for the next grade level! \r\n\r\nAs we come to the end of the school year, I am confident that the benefit that my students got from your generosity will not end in my classroom.
