This is the Language Experience Approach. Using LEA's, our group has a shared experience, project, or looks at a picture or video to have a shared learning experience. We develop the vocabulary together, often tired to literacy skills. Then we co-create a text together. This text is repeated and read many times until it is memorized, then we work on writing the text down together, exploring many facets of literacy development (letter names and sounds, identifying initial sounds in words, sounding out words, naming vocabulary, noticing and writing high frequency words, etc). At the end of the lesson, students return to their classrooms with a book we have \"written\" that they can feel successful in reading!\r\n\r\nThis board allows for room for us to co-create and house this text through-out the week!
