The gift of books to my International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) class has made a tremendous impact on my students' ability to make and set goals for their personal and academic success. The book system also has given my students a framework of how to change negative thinking, build positive behaviors, and set necessary boundaries as they move into adulthood. What I have found so useful is that the books provide real, personal examples of every step it offers in the system and it provides a basis for deep critical thinking about our lives. The books have been a catalyst for my class to keep each other accountable, including myself. We are seeking to be our best selves in class, in our personal lives, and in the careers my students are actively pursuing. \r\n\r\nI have four students in particular in class that like to remind me when too much time has gone by without using our books and journals. These four students have shown so much progress in the goals they are setting for themselves. If you look within their books, sections are highlighted, there are notes in the margins, and flags on some pages. This is not a required task in our use of the books, but there has been so much valuable information and systems offered that my students are reacting authentically to what they personally want to take away from the books. It brings such joy. Rarely do students in my school get gifts such as these, where they can use and keep the books for themselves, and NEW books at that. These books are a reminder of how much I, and others, believe in them.","fullyFundedDate":1755118679474,"projectUrl":"project/organized-effective-and-motivated-teen/9575424/","projectTitle":"Organized, Effective, and Motivated Teens.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Olszewski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10024636"},{"teacherId":10219710,"projectId":9690226,"letterContent":"Thank you so much, donors! Survey Questions were formulated to determine the impact of Robotics Integrated Physics Instruction on my students. There are the following: (1) Is it (MBOT) user-friendly? (2) What excites you about the integration of robotics in physics? (3) How does integration of robotics help you in understanding motion in one dimension? Seventeen (17) students responded to the questions. The following are their responses: For item no. (1), 100% of them said YES. It means that the MBOT is user-friendly. One of the students specifically said this: \"Yes, MBOT worked user-friendly, as it was able to be built easily and had instructions labeled so we knew what to do easily and how to set up the MBOT and how we can work it to Bluetooth it with our device.\" For item no. (2), most of them said that the most exciting part is the building phase, coding or programming, and when the program works and the robot moves. One of the students said that \"It excites me by allowing me to have a hands-on approach to observing several concepts of physics,\" and another one said, \"Being able to use the robots to see the abilities they have. Also another thing is being able to display my abilities and understanding of the lesson we're learning right now.\" One of the students also commented, \"Doing something other than notes.\" Lastly, for item no. (3), the majority of the students said that they understand the concept of distance, displacement, speed, and velocity better. Students' comments are \"It makes it easy to see the motion and physics from a top-down view,\" \"It helps me understand the integration of robots in 1D because being able to move back and forth along a single axis is shown since you can see displacement and distance in it,\" and \"Integrating robotics into education provides a dynamic and hands-on approach to understanding one-dimensional motion by allowing students to directly apply and visualize theoretical physics concepts.\"","fullyFundedDate":1757536194204,"projectUrl":"project/robotics-integrated-physics-instruction/9690226/","projectTitle":"Robotics Integrated Physics Instruction","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sheng","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10219710_orig.png?crop=499,499,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755966304309","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teachersheng"},{"teacherId":3987224,"projectId":8982079,"letterContent":"Words cannot fully express the impact that our classroom rolling chairs have made. We had four rolling chairs which was not enough for all students. When the students saw the new chairs, they were beyond thrilled. One of my students said that now everyone will be able to focus and do well on their math work. It may seem like a funny comment and certainly one that many of us may question- can a rolling chair really make a positive impact in the classroom? The answer is yes; it can calm their anxiety and help them to focus by the use of small movement.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful moments in my mind occurred during our 8th period algebra II class. Students are always encouraged to work together and support each other. There was a student sitting by herself because the other students in her pod were absent. Another group invited her to join them. She rolled over to their table and everyone collaborated- she talked more than she had in several days- no support needed from me!\r\n\r\nOf course, they also have fun with the rolling chairs when we are doing whiteboard work. We have whiteboards on three walls of the classroom so everyone spreads out to do their work. With the rolling chairs, we find that students will roll around to help out their peers.\r\n\r\nThese chairs are one addition to our classroom that allows our class to be strength-based with support for everyone. Your kindness and support of our classroom is greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping my students on the journey to academic growth and success.","fullyFundedDate":1733752174354,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-math-success/8982079/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Math Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bernardini","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3987224"},{"teacherId":9819608,"projectId":8909524,"letterContent":"We can't thank you enough for your generosity and kindness! My students were thrilled to receive so many supplies for their project; these were supplies that, without your help, we might not have been able to afford. We often forget that the simplest gestures make the biggest impact, and this was one of those times. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!\r\n\r\nOriginally, students decided to create mental health survival guides to share with their younger peer within our high school school, but as the ideas flew, they came up with something even better. Collectively, they decided that it would be even better if they expanded the project's goal to reach their younger peers at the elementary level. Many of the high schoolers have younger siblings and they expressed that it is difficult for little ones to navigate growing up, especially when it comes to mental health and making the right decisions. My high school seniors decided to help. \r\n\r\nThe final product, our children's books, are a collection of stories that deal with real-world problems like mental health, growing up, bullying, acceptance, moral and ethical issues, etc. They are all original stories, written and illustrated by the students. They plan to send some of them to children in another country and some will find a home with sick children in the children's hospital.","fullyFundedDate":1732717907229,"projectUrl":"project/i-am-me-life-book/8909524/","projectTitle":"I Am Me Life Book","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Waltos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9819608"},{"teacherId":9705495,"projectId":9004304,"letterContent":"This project has helped encourage students to become more engaged with photography and graphic design. Your donations have made an incredible impact, transforming our learning environment into a more engaging and hands-on space where students can explore and express their ideas in creative ways. \r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments was when my students first saw the materials—especially the Play-Doh, fidget toys, and other hands-on supplies. Their faces lit up with excitement, and I immediately knew these resources would make a difference. The Play-Doh, in particular, quickly became a classroom favorite, and students eagerly found ways to incorporate it into their learning. \r\n\r\nMost recently, we used the materials for a shoebox diorama project, where students demonstrated their understanding of literature by visually recreating key scenes in Animal Farm and exploring different perspectives. The Play-Doh allowed them to sculpt characters, symbols, and settings, making their interpretations more dynamic and expressive. Some students even used the Play-Doh to depict abstract concepts like emotions or themes, adding depth to their analyses. The variety of materials gave every student, regardless of artistic ability, a way to participate and bring their ideas to life. \r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and in the power of hands-on learning.
