Your generosity helped provide essential supplies for my school's growing modern band program. Building a gear inventory for rock band programming is challenging because there is a variety of items needed to make the programming viable. \r\n\r\nThis project is important to the school because it is a result of student inquiry and ideation. Students are inspired to learn and collaborate with their friends in a format that reminds them of the music they listen to. As a result of your support, my school was able to offer a Modern Band after school club in addition to regular classes. The club is very popular!\r\n\r\nIt is rewarding for me as a teacher to balance multiple perspectives of music learning. Students created a song list, one of which was a Radiohead tune which happens to pair nicely with a nylon guitar ensemble. We are working on an arrangement to blend Modern Band and guitar ensemble and the students are super excited. The self check (although I am at the table) lets them be proud of their work. The vowel sound flip cards have been used at each table in the room. The Popcorn games keep the anticipation high! The many Kindergarten games added variety for letter & sound foundation. The cart keeps everything organized. The stickers and book marks are extremely motivating being scratch & sniff. The 6th graders helped unwrap and swap out the batteries. They did a great job and were enthusiastic to help! \r\n\r\nThe charging stations have helped us charge 20 new rechargeable guitar tuners. Recently, students helped unbox the new tuners and plug them into the charging stations. Now we can finally use them!\r\n\r\nI was able to change out a broken bass guitar string with one of the bass string packs. I reserved the remaining strings for future use. Now we have two functional bass guitars for students and extra strings on hand in case any more break.\r\n\r\nThe carpets add extra sound absorption, provide anesthetic value, and help define a separate work area within a larger, multi-use space. The 8th graders helped unwrap and set up the carpets and they designed the rehearsal area.
