My very first student's face lit up when she saw the choices of Oreos, pringles, popcorns, and more. Students feel so welcomed and loved and connected by small gifts or snacks. I also know that many of my families do not have money to buy the kind of extra snacks that feel like a treat. Having shelf-stable and name-brand treats is important because I can keep them available to students for longer and they are snacks the kids desire but usually don't have access to at home. A few students even had a conversation about why the snack they chose was the best and some talked about the nutritional value of each one. I didn't expect to get such a detailed conversation started from just some snacks, but it helped the students get to know each other. \r\n\r\nWith so many of my students experiencing financial hardships at home and some academic deficiencies here at school, it makes me so happy to offer a little treat that helps them want to be here and keep trying. With all of the out-of-pocket expenses expected of teachers for classrooms, Donor's Choose and the people that support my projects make me so grateful and better able to encourage my students to keep coming to school and try their best.\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you again for funding my project!","fullyFundedDate":1778010567959,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-the-soul/9988729/","projectTitle":"Fuel for the Soul","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Phongmany","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5620595_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y120&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597246113323","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5620595"},{"teacherId":8342223,"projectId":10325866,"letterContent":"From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for your generosity. Keema school students received your gifts and consequently created beautiful art--adding to their self-esteem and awareness of art's healing power for life! For many, this is the first time they have been able to engage as artists and feel proud and positive about school. Additionally, they proudly carry the donated--canvas bags decorated uniquely with paint pens and acrylics. Thank you for your incredibly generous donations of the ice machine, snow cone machine and its supplies, snacks, and various classroom items. Your kindness and support have made a significant difference in our school community. \r\n\r\nOur students have been using the ice machine and and shave ice machine almost every day. They loooooove it! They love that after sport class or just passing through the halls they can come in and fill up their water bottle with ice and water. This little thing has made such a difference in their attitude. And when they discovered that there's a shave ice machine and the syrups, they went crazy with excitement.
