They sorted, created patterns, shared, collaborated, and negotiated. One student said, \"My father is a carpenter. That is where the popsicle sticks you bought me come in. I put the students' names and photos on them and put them in a little \"equity bucket.\" I close my eyes and pick one from the bucket and \"wah, la\" - the students have a sense of fairness in the knowledge that they will each get a chance. As we were working on moving to a newly renovated classroom, organization was KEY. I wanted to make sure that my table groups were able to manage their materials quickly and efficiently and that I was able to find the materials that I needed in order to teach. My students got very good over the first trimester at managing their materials in a group box, and then they had to restart when we moved! \r\n\r\nIn November, we moved into the new classroom and students had their own desks for the first time.
