Thanks to you, my students now have access to high-quality headphones that have transformed how they engage with reading instruction in our classroom, and I want to take a moment to share exactly what that has meant for them.\r\n\r\nMany of you use technology every day at home, but you may not realize how central it has become to how students actually learn to read in today's classrooms. Programs like Lexia PowerUp rely on focused, individualized audio instruction; students listen to phonics patterns, vocabulary definitions, and comprehension passages through their headphones while working at their own pace. Before we had a full set of working headphones, this was a constant struggle. Students would share earbuds that barely worked, sound would bleed across the room and distract their neighbors, and some students simply could not hear the instruction clearly enough to benefit from it. Your donation solved that problem overnight. Now every student can put on a pair of headphones, block out the noise of a busy classroom, and hear their lesson clearly from start to finish. It sounds like a small thing, but for a student who struggles to filter out distractions, it is the difference between a lesson that sinks in and one that passes them by.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting to my students is simply how much more independent they feel. With reliable headphones, they are not constantly raising their hands to ask me to repeat something they missed, or leaning over to a classmate to ask what was just said. They can rewind a passage, replay a tricky word, and work through the program at their own pace without feeling embarrassed or falling behind. I have noticed students sitting up a little straighter, focusing a little longer, and taking real ownership of their own reading growth. For many of them, this is one of the first times they have had a piece of technology entirely their own to use well, and they take that responsibility seriously.\r\n\r\nI want to tell you about a few students in particular who have especially warmed to this new technology. One of my students, whom I will call J. for privacy, has always struggled with reading comprehension and often becomes frustrated and shuts down during independent work time. Since receiving the headphones, J. has become one of the most engaged students during our Lexia PowerUp sessions. The ability to hear instructions clearly, without the distraction of classroom noise, has given J. the confidence to work through passages that would have previously led to frustration and giving up. J. now asks to use the program during free time, something I never would have predicted a few months ago.\r\n\r\nAnother student, a quieter girl in my class who rarely spoke up even to ask for help, has blossomed with the privacy that headphones provide. She can now work through difficult vocabulary and pronunciation practice without feeling like the whole class is listening in on her mistakes. Her confidence in reading aloud during small-group instruction has visibly grown, and I credit much of that shift to the safe, focused space her headphones provide during independent practice.\r\n\r\nBeyond these individual stories, the overall energy in my classroom during reading time has shifted. There is less shuffling for shared equipment, less frustration over broken or tangled cords, and more genuine focus. My students are reading more, listening more carefully, and building the kind of steady, quiet confidence that comes from mastering something a little bit at a time.\r\n\r\nNone of this would have been possible without your generosity. You did not just fund a piece of equipment; you gave my students the tools to become more independent, more confident readers. On behalf of my entire class, thank you for believing in them and investing in their growth. Your kindness has made a real and lasting difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1778512548604,"projectUrl":"project/lexia-powerup-challenge-headphones-for/9993527/","projectTitle":"Lexia PowerUp Challenge: Headphones for Focused Reading Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Nguyen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9367341_orig.png?crop=1080,1080,x0,y122&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768249067379","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9367341"},{"teacherId":9997286,"projectId":10244560,"letterContent":"I wanted to send a massive thank you for supporting our 7th-grade science class! Many students do not always have access to quality equipment or resources outside of school. By receiving supplies through Donors Choose, every student was able to participate fully, regardless of their background. This ensured that all students had the same opportunity to practice skills, stay active, and feel included.\r\n\r\nSecond, the new equipment increased student engagement and motivation. When students are provided with updated, high-quality materials such as sports equipment, fitness tools, or instructional resources they are more excited to participate. In a 6th grade PE setting, this often translates to higher levels of physical activity, better focus during lessons, and more enthusiasm for learning new skills.\r\n\r\nThird, the supplies allowed for more effective instruction. With adequate equipment, you were able to reduce wait times, organize small-group activities, and differentiate instruction based on student ability levels. This led to more meaningful practice opportunities and improved skill development across the class.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the materials supported a wider variety of activities and assessments. Instead of relying on limited or worn-out equipment, you could introduce new games, fitness stations, and skill-based challenges. This variety helps address different learning styles and keeps students engaged over time.\r\n\r\nFinally, the impact extends beyond physical skills. Students also developed teamwork, communication, and confidence. Having the proper resources allowed them to collaborate more effectively, take ownership of their learning, and experience success in a supportive environment.","fullyFundedDate":1768497472451,"projectUrl":"project/wileys-class/10015089/","projectTitle":"Wiley's Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Wiley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10402712"},{"teacherId":10405448,"projectId":10026655,"letterContent":"Heartfelt Thanks for Your Support \r\n\r\nDear Donors,\r\n\r\nThank you for your generous support of our science classroom.
