Students acknowledge that they don't stress when they forget something or can't afford things necessary for our class. They were all pleased to see the ample amount of pencils, the stock of first aid materials, and holders for their utensils to add things to their journals. The extra colored paper comes in handy each day, as I use them for the notes they can refer to when studying or doing their work and activities. It adds to the difference that is their math class. The players immediately felt a huge difference as they lifted the pieces to their desired locations.\r\n\r\nAs I showed them the new notation pads, they were excited to start taking down their games. We even had some students explaining the importance of notation in and out of tournament play. I hope that the books that were purchased with your donation will help grow the students' understanding of Chess whether they are beginning, intermediate or advanced. As I myself, am more of an intermediate player, this allows me to push those that are better than me and also leads me to get better.\r\n\r\nGoing forward, I hope to get a vertical teaching board that will assist with openings and end game situations. One of the many lessons I've noticed as something that I can build upon is teaching my students how to checkmate rather than taking all their opponents pieces off the board. And the fidget toys were great rewards for students that won games and acted appropriately during the lessons taught in class.\r\n\r\nThe electric pencil sharpeners were a welcoming upgrade and are used daily. The students also appreciated the scissors that are more their size because we do many activities that require them to cut objects out.
