Students had the opportunity to hear from a staff member from Vietnam and her daughter who is a Panamanian representative. Students learned about the golden frog, which was once believed to be extinct, but is now being repopulated. Students discovered the importance of the golden frog as a symbol of perseverance and good luck. Students studied the work of Thierry Bisch, then created their own rainforest with a golden frog, filled with color using our new tempera cakes.\r\n\r\nStudents are always so excited to see their art come to life with new products. However, we are hitting the ground running, completing our color theory study this week. Younger students have been learning primary and secondary colors, and mixing their own secondary colors to create color wheel kites on gorgeous mixed color watercolor backgrounds. \r\n\r\nOlder students have been learning about value and creating vivid value tone paintings with liquid tempera. \r\n\r\nFourth grade have learned about analogous and tertiary colors, mixing primary and secondary colors together to create tertiary colors in an analogous color scheme while completing dragonflies in flight.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping us to have better quality paper on which to practice skills and grow in understanding.
