Not only are we growing healthy delicious food, but we are also growing cut flowers. Our garden club provides an opportunity for entrepreneurship through a local farmer's market! Students can take the flowers we grow or the seeds we produce and sell them at market. Reading about solar power is one thing, but seeing it in action is another!\r\nOur students were so excited to see the sun power our fans and keep the Greenhouse cool. Because of the Donor's Choose Community, we have been able to provide a beautiful green learning space for our students. \r\nOur Greenhouse was suffering in the Houston heat and desperately needed an upgrade to keep the plants cool and healthy. \r\nThe new fans will keep the air flowing and make sure mold and mildew don't build up. \r\nThe addition of a hydroponic garden set up for our indoor growing space is incredibly exciting. We have class sets of equipment. In order for us to stay safe and sanitary, we have to constantly clean up our equipment. As winter got closer, we had to move some of our plants inside. We started cuttings from several pothos varieties, scindapsus, and philodendrons as well as corms from Alocasia and Colocasia varieties.\r\nThe plants that we grow will be big enough to repot and eventually plant in our garden. From 6-8th grades...boys and girls...all have received opportunities to assist in costuming our two fall shows.\r\nFor our One Act Play, The Price, we had a LOT of costumes to create. Students jumped in and got to work...and the resulting costumes received RAVE reviews. Our Intermediate 3 class performed Peter/Wendy, and also had several costumes to alter.
