The \"Enchanted Forest\" themed area has been a true catalyst for my students' growth as readers and writers. The comfortable, cozy atmosphere—complete with cushions, carpets, and natural elements—invites them to explore books and engage with their writing in a relaxed and inspiring environment.\r\n\r\nSince the creation of this space, students have shown increased enthusiasm for independent reading and writing. The sense of belonging and comfort has encouraged them to spend more time with books, delve deeper into their stories, and express themselves more freely in their writing. This area has become a sanctuary where their imaginations can roam, unbound by the usual classroom structure, and where they can feel safe to experiment with new ideas.\r\n\r\nThrough this project, students have not only developed stronger literacy skills but also gained more confidence in their creative abilities. The space has fostered a deeper connection to literature, making reading more enjoyable and writing more accessible. The sense of ownership and pride in their own creative processes has been a joy to witness. Research has long shown that inviting and comfortable learning environments have a profound effect on students' engagement and academic success, and this project has clearly proven that.\r\n\r\nUltimately, this project has cultivated a positive, motivating atmosphere that encourages lifelong learning and a passion for the written word. It has been rewarding to watch my students grow in confidence, creativity, and literacy, and I am excited to see how this enchanted space continues to inspire them for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1717960390376,"projectUrl":"project/step-into-an-enchanted-world-of-reading/8436325/","projectTitle":"Step into an Enchanted World of Reading and Writing!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9472521_orig.jpg?crop=716,716,x315,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1708301631197","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9472521"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_52984","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":617,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"18.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.3,"schoolId":52984,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Johnson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Johnson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/mesa-public-schools/johnson-elementary-school/52984"}
